The Crazzy Canuck was established in 2001 by Regan & Kimberly Scoville. Many loads of Canadian goodies were brought back by the Scovilles from the "Motherland" at the bequest of friends and transplanted Canucks who were in dire need of Canadian products. This is what spurred the idea of Canadian store who's theme would be "All things Canadian". The idea was to give those away from the "True North"
A place where they could get I little bit of home!
The name "Canuck " is an Inuit word for a "sturdy mountain horse". This nick name was given to the early Canadian soldiers in WWI & WWII by the Scottish & British troops, because the Canadians were the toughest & most eager of them all. This turned into slag during the 50's & 60's, for friends and foreigners to refer to Canadians at large, a term of endearment or friendly recognition. The term Crazy Canuck came to existence in the 1978-82 as a nickname for the Canadian Downhill Ski Team, with such skiers as Ken Reid, Steve Poborski and Todd Brooker. These skiers were known for their fast and reckless style of skiing, speed over form, and became known by their piers and the world as the "Crazy Canucks". Regan Scoville grew up as a skier and spent most whole of his teen & collegiate years skiing and playing Hockey, as any good Canadian boy should! This is why the store bears the name "Crazzy Canuck"!
